60 More Sleeps….

It has been a busy school-filled and not enough fishing-filled offseason for myself.  Although I tried to get out most weekends fishing, it was still not enough to satisfy my addiction.  Like most diehard anglers, I can never get enough time on the water.  After 100 straight days fishing on Dundas Island last summer, the first thing I did when I returned home to Vancouver was go fishing the very next morning. Tough one to explain to my girlfriend………

I feel privileged to have the opportunity to return to Haa-Nee-Naa and Dundas Island every summer.  This will be my 5th season and I am more excited than ever!  Being able to do what I love while creating lifelong friendships with staff and guests year after year is truly an amazing experience.  Looking at my calendar it is 60 more sleeps until my arrival on Dundas Island!  I feel like a 7-year-old kid counting down the days until Christmas morning, and underneath the tree are hungry Chinook salmon.

Currently I am in Maui on vacation, seeing all the Humpback whales and that distinct ocean smell has got me thinking about the upcoming HNNL season. The morning boat ride to herring rocks, the first stringer of freshies, a Chinook’s big aggressive head shakes beneath the boat, feisty Coho dancing on the surface and chef Paul’s warm breakfast creations on the water are all memories that get me through the offseason and give me something to look forward to.

I can’t wait until that first floatplane arrives and guests pile off the plane because this means only one thing… FISH ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to seeing you all this summer,
